Nutrition of Clementine oranges

Clementine is a hybrid of tangerine and bitter orange, sometimes regarded as variety of tangerine. Clementine is a rich source of essential nutrients.

The health benefits associated with consumption include fulfillment of vitamin C requirement. Its vitamin C content is quite high about 54 mg/100 g.

Clementine also contain the most pro-vitamin A activity, with activity ranging between 900 and 1000 retinol equivalent.

The bioactive molecules present in this fruit are limonoids, polymethoxy flavones and flavones glycosylates. 

Mineral content of Clementine are as follows: calcium 30 mg/100g, Magnesium 10 mg/100 g, Phosphorus 21 mg/100 g m and Potassium 177 mg/100 g.

Clementine

Clementine
Botanical name Citrus reticulata of commonly name Mandarin orange. Clementine is a hybrid of tangerine and bitter orange sometimes regarded as variety of tangerine.

Tiny loose skinned orange with thin peel and tangy red-orange flesh. Easy to peel and usually with few or no seeds.

High in vitamin C. Sweet and juicy, with concentration of orange flavors.

Mostly eaten fresh. Clementine, which have become popular in the United States recently are often sold in small wooden boxes around the holiday season.

They grow best in Mediterranean climates, and Spain is the major producers.
